Where has Ray taken us………HIGHER!
The Sing-A-Long started raising money for the
Salvation Army about 30 years ago. For the first seven or eight
years, maybe $30 or $40 was raised each time. We have no record and
I can’t remember. In 1990 we got a huge wooden sign made which is
pictured on this website and began to track our totals. The sign
made the group seem more legitimate and took our fundraising efforts
to new heights. That year we also began a Sing-A-Long tradition of
counting and tracking the funds. Each year after our mob gets home
from caroling we toss all the collected coins, bills and cheques
onto the back of the wooden sign and count it up. Then in felt pen
we inscribe that year’s tally onto the back of the board.
